Although first seen as a regular series in 1960, the character of Mr. Magoo actually dates back to 1949, when he starred in a series of UPA theatrical animated shorts. In 1956, Quincy Magoo could be seen on four 60-second spots, hawking beer.

This NBC show presented Magoo in a variety of roles, portraying various literary and historical figures. 13 hour-long episodes were produced, some being 2 half-hour stories combined into one program.
The series failed to garner the same type of ratings as the holiday special, and was cancelled after one season. The cartoons were later syndicated as animated specials under the umbrella title Mr. Magoo's Storybook.

#U27 - UPA Studio - 'FAMOUS ADVENTURES OF MISTER MAGOO', 1964-65. This inked, unpainted animation model cel of Mr. Magoo riding in his old-fashioned, antique car was created at the UPA Studio in development of the character during production of an animated cartoon.
Famous Adventures was an animated TV series made by UPA and featured Magoo in various historic and literary roles. The inked cel image measures 5 1/4' x 6' and the cel sheet is full and untrimmed.
Studio notation 'Magoo Car / Standard Color Model' appears along the top. In excellent condition, there are small tears at peg holes along top: VERY FINE condition. Certificate of authenticity is included.
